iPod Touch on Ubuntu Rocks!

English Only: if you can’t read italian you can translate this page with Google Translator with the bar at the bottom on the page. Simply click translate and select your preferred language. I know the translation isn’t so good, but it’s almost understandable. The guide posted over here is in english so you will not have problems following it.

Bad News
I’ve been working on syncing ipod touch 2.0 with ubuntu 8.04 …. I can connect to the device by ssh and read/write files on it, but when i try to sync with amarok o gtkpod i corrupt my library and i can see only songs from these program…ipod says that non songs are in the library.
Normally this problem is caused only due to an hash problem of the library ( apple encoded the library with a sha1 code for protect it by no-itunes software).
Now seems that the only way it’s to have a virtual machine with usb2.0 enabled or a dual boot… i will continue my test and try to fix this problem but i think we only need an upgrade of libgpod that is the library to use ipod under linux hoping they include the iphone and the ipod touch.
Guys stay tuned i will continue my work!
